We are a small venture that is dedicated to providing minimum impact eco based experiences in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The business is owned and operated by Bob and Hazel West. Bob has been a teacher and outdoor education instructor for nearly 40 years. He has been paddling extensively in the Riverland for the last 11 years. He is a qualified instructor with Australian Canoeing Inc. (the peak body) and an assessor, advisor with Bushwalking Leadership SA Inc. Hazel ensures administration runs smoothly and assists on some of the tours. Both possess a current Senior First Aid Certificate.
SAFETY & EQUIPMENT
We provide a personalised and friendly service. All equipment is chosen for comfort and to provide safety and ease of use. The tours are all equipped with the appropriate safety equipment, including first aid kit. Communications equipment, such as UHF radios, EPIRB, CDMA or satellite phone are carried on the tours, depending on the circumstances.
Our canoes and kayaks are selected to provide the best in safe, stable and comfortable paddling. Each boat is checked before and after each use and is maintained in peak condition. It is a legal requirement that PFD's (Personal Flotation Devices) are worn canoeing. We use vests designed for canoeing that are easy to adjust and comfortable to wear. Dry bags are provided to secure gear such as wallets, phones, keys etc on all tours and for short hires.
